On July 14, 2015, Jason Hughes announced his candidacy for the Louisiana House of Representatives, District 100. Hughes is vying to succeed Rep. Austin Badon (D-New Orleans) who cannot seek reelection due to term limits. House District 100 encompasses portions of eastern New Orleans.
“New Orleans East is a vital community to the City of New Orleans and the State of Louisiana with great economic potential,” said Hughes. “Throughout my career, I have gained extensive experience at the federal, state, and local levels of government. I will apply these experiences in the state legislature to produce effective results for the extraordinary citizens of House District 100.”
If elected, Hughes will focus on issues related to Louisiana’s state budget, education, economic development, and criminal justice reform.
